Voodoo Fishin' supports 1–6 players in online co-op with proximity voice chat in the current full game. For anyone searching voodoo fishing max players, the maximum is six, including the player hosting the session. You can also play alone. The current English Steam listing confirms that range.
A productive crew does more than share a fishing spot. Sold fish advance Dock Quotas, teammates can help with hooked fish, and everyone benefits from a sensible return route. This guide uses official material reviewed on October 19, 2026; the suggested crew routines are planning advice rather than a playtested walkthrough.
01
Why older guides say four or five players
Dock capacity grew during development. Earlier announcements discussed four-player lobbies, then a July 30 update introduced five-player Docks. The developer's August 13 announcement raised the capacity to six. That history explains conflicting numbers in older videos, search snippets, and translated descriptions.
Use the current English store description when planning a full-game group. An older four-player translation does not override the later six-player update. Equally, a six-player maximum does not mean you need six people before starting. A smaller crew can learn the fishing loop together; our beginner guide provides a starting plan. Before arranging a session, have everyone identify which edition they actually installed.
02
Check demo limits before assembling the group
The developer says the demo includes the core gameplay systems while restricting world exploration and higher-tier Tackle. That makes it useful for trying the feel of fishing, but it should not be treated as the full map and equipment progression at no cost.
The reviewed sources do not establish the demo's current player limit or whether demo and full-game players can join one another. Do not organize a six-person demo session on the strength of the full game's listing. Confirm the options available to the edition your group is using. Cross-platform support is also unverified here, so this guide makes no compatibility promise for friends using different platforms.
03
Choose a Dock and make voice comfortable
Official updates discuss both Public Docks and private lobbies. For an arranged group, choose the private option available in the current client and check who has joined before leaving. For public play, agree on a simple objective with the anglers already there. The sources reviewed do not establish an exact Steam invitation sequence, so follow the live lobby interface rather than guessed menu instructions.
The Rusty Remy update added push-to-talk and the ability to mute players in the current Dock. Blocking prevents future matchmaking with that player in Public Docks. Check your controls before the first trip, test whether nearby teammates hear you, and use those options when unwanted audio makes coordination difficult.
04
Pick one Fish Monger reward as a crew
Fish sales contribute to shared Dock Quota progress. Completing quotas unlocks useful rewards for the Dock, including larger coolers and movement upgrades. This gives a return trip a team purpose even when different anglers are chasing different catches.
There are two Fish Mongers with separate progress. The September 1 update places Louis at Fort Arbre and gives him his own Bounty Board, Quota meter, and rewards. Check the upcoming reward at each Monger, then agree where the next haul is going. Splitting sales without discussing the desired reward can scatter your effort across two meters. Our money guide explains selling priorities, while the map guide helps you think through the journey.
05
Collect upgrades and understand the session reset
Unlocking a larger cooler includes a physical collection step. The September announcement says the Cooler Upgrade pickup appears at the relevant Fish Monger and must be picked up to enlarge the cooler. If a teammate still has limited space, check that step before assuming the quota failed.
The Dock Quota announcement introduced a four-slot starting cooler and upgrades to six, eight, and ten slots. It also explicitly describes these upgrades as session-only: leaving the lobby resets the cooler. Plan an extended fishing trip around the capacity you currently have. This session rule does not establish how every other item, unlock, or save is stored; avoid extending it into a general claim about progression persistence.
06
Help hooked fish and replenish a fishing area
The Fish Club provides a direct supporting job: you can strike a teammate's hooked fish to stun it, making the struggle easier to manage. The developer says swinging it uses casting-style controls. Practice the motion through the casting guide, and announce that you are moving in to help so the angler understands your intention.
The Chum Bucket turns fish into chum, which can be thrown into the water to restock a fishing area. Discuss that choice before processing a catch the crew intended to sell or pursue for a bounty. Chum supports staying at a location, while a sale supports quota progress. Neither action replaces choosing suitable bait and understanding the fish you want to catch.
07
Use short callouts and a shared return plan
Proximity voice chat makes nearby communication part of the session. Before spreading out, agree on a recognizable meeting place and the next selling destination. Useful callouts describe an action: someone is returning with fish, needs help with a hooked catch, or has spotted a threat along the route.
For a first outing, stay close enough to check on one another and return together after a manageable haul. When fishing with a larger group, you can choose loose pairs so nobody has to track every angler at once. These are organizational suggestions, not game-enforced roles. If someone cannot hear a plan, regroup before continuing; do not assume a distant teammate received the warning simply because you spoke into your microphone.
08
Protect the haul before chasing another catch
The current store description warns that dying costs your carried catch and equipped Tackle. A crew should therefore discuss when the existing haul is worth bringing home. Team size does not remove that loss risk, and a valuable rod deserves the same attention as the fish being carried.
Keep an exit in mind when choosing a fishing position, warn others about hazards, and check the monster guide before exploring farther. If a cooler needs recovery, read the option carefully: the Remy update says Cooler Respawn empties it and places it near the outhouse. It is not a way to move a full haul safely back to base.
09
Separate session problems from fishing problems
Patch 1.0.1, released October 16, improved casting and reeling on some hardware setups and adjusted sensitivity controls. Those notes do not promise that every input issue is fixed. Start by identifying whether the problem concerns joining, voice, fishing input, or an upgrade pickup; each needs a different check.
As a diagnostic suggestion, compare a short solo session with a fresh group session and record what changes. Note the game build, edition, approximate time, and the exact action that failed. A different result helps describe the issue; it does not prove a particular network or save mechanism. Read the official patch notes before reporting a reproducible problem, and treat reconnecting as a test with session-upgrade consequences rather than a guaranteed repair.
